'Signs'
M Night Shyamalan’s 2002 film is set on an isolated Pennsylvania farm, where former minister Graham Hess (Mel Gibson) and his family discover enormous crop circles appearing in their fields. As strange lights, unsettling broadcasts, and inexplicable encounters begin mounting across the globe, Graham, his brother Merrill (Joaquin Phoenix), and his children are forced to confront the terrifying possibility that something is watching them from the darkness beyond the cornfields. 2:30 p.m. June 2 at Frida Cinema in Santa Ana.
The Speakeasy Murder & Other Acts of Prohibition
An immersive, interactive murder mystery dinner experience places every guest at the center of the story. Guests are transported to a 1920s New York-style nightclub populated by with bootleggers, gangsters and flappers. Live music, signature cocktails and a three-course prix fixe dinner begin the evening. But when the music stops, a deadly plot begins as performers weave through the audience and the evening's mystery unfolds, full of bribes, secrets and surprises, with every twist driven by audience votes. Opens June 4 at 7600 Beach Blvd., Buena Park.
Newport Beach TV Fest
A four-day celebration of some of TV's best-known actors, held at the historic Lido Theater in Newport Beach. The festival will attract one of the largest gatherings of Guild and Television Academy voters outside Los Angeles and New York in an event where fans can genuinely rub elbows with some of the biggest names in TV, including the casts of "Shrinking" and "Landman." June 5-7.
