The Festival Singers of Orange County is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. David Sheridan as their new Artistic Director. Dr. Sheridan has over thirty years’ experience as a choral musician, conductor, and educator on the East and West Coasts. He has long nurtured a love and interest in choral music of many genres, as well as an interest in understanding the ways music creates meaning and community for those who create and listen to it. Dr. Sheridan currently serves as the Director of Music and Liturgy at Church of the Messiah (Episcopal) in Santa Ana, CA, where he is finishing his eleventh season.
Dr. Sheridan holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education as well as a Bachelor of Arts in History from Florida State University, where he studied instrumental music, conducting, voice, and organ. He earned a Ph.D in History from the University of Southern California, with a concentration in European cultural and music history.
In addition to his musical life, he is a full-time faculty member in the History Department at California State University-Long Beach. He resides in Orange County and enjoys spending time with his family and friends on both coasts.
