Balboa Island Museum offers one-hour classes for chess and other games that are designed to boost creativity, focus and problem-solving skills through play-based learning. Hosted by Strategic Kids, each session blends enrichment and fun in a relaxed, small-group setting. $25 per class. Appropriate for K-8.
Pretend City celebrates African American Music Month through engaging activities, music and movement. Hosted by Rhythm Child, an interactive, engaging drumming and educational company that works mostly with early education-aged children, along with the early elementary years. 11 a.m. and noon June 18.
This Fullerton-based tribute group pays homage to Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band, faithfully recreating many of Seger's greatest hits such as "Old Time Rock and Roll," "Night Moves" and "Against The Wind". 7:30 p.m. June 19 at Muckenthaler Cultural Center.
