Ann Hampton Calloway with Bill Cunliffe Combo
Calloway made her mark as a singer, pianist, composer, lyricist, arranger, and actress. She is a Tony nominee who sang for Bill Clinton and with Barbara Streisand, appeared in a film opposite Robert DeNiro, Matt Damon, and Angelina Jolie, and collaborated with Cole Porter on a composition. This performance is part of the 21st Annual Jazz Festival. 7:30 p.m. June 18 at Muckenthaler Cultural Center.
Kontrapunktus
The neo-baroque chamber music ensemble will perform their production "CON FUOCO: An Italian Opus" at the Laguna Presbyterian Church in Laguna Beach. The evening will feature masterworks tracing the evolution of the Italian style, including pieces by Antonio Vivaldi, Georg Philipp Telemann and Ottorino Respighi, alongside a sublime violin concerto by Joseph Haydn performed by soloist Aubree Oliverson. 7:30 p.m. June 20 at Laguna Presbyterian Church.
Baroque Music Festival Corona del Mar
This year's 46th annual festival celebrates the patron saint of music, Saint Cecilia, and the power of harmony she inspires. Director-violinist Elizabeth Blumenstock and various artists present music that includes Handel’s grand Ode for St. Cecilia’s Day, Parisian ballet suites, Italian concertos, Bach violin sonatas, Spanish guitar quintets, and more. June 21-28.
