First Descents
This special combination of two award-winning films by The North Face, Lhotse and Trango explores lofty places from the Himalayas to the Great Trango Towers in an unforgettable evening of high-altitude storytelling. These films celebrate the spirit of exploration, resilience and the raw beauty of the vertical world. 6:30 p.m. Jan. 8 at Rivian South Coast Theater, Laguna Beach.
OCMA Art Happy Hour & Pop-Up Talk
Join OCMA's art experts for a pop-up talk about an artwork from the museum's current exhibitions. After the talk, visit the bar on Level 2 and enjoy a cocktail inspired by the talk’s featured work. Admission is free and drinks are available for purchase. 5 p.m. Jan. 9 at UC Irvine Langson Orange County Museum of Art.
Laguna Literary Festival
The multi-faceted event includes two receptions, numerous workshops and panels as well as the presentation of the first-ever Laguna Beach Literary Leader award. Spend a day with nationally recognized, award-winning writers and editors. Workshops, panels and presentations will address the craft of writing, followed by a public sunset celebration of authors and readers. Jan. 10 at Laguna Beach Community & SusiQ Center.
