We don't have the resources to write in-depth stories about everything.  Our editors want to share a few more events each week that we think you should know about.  These picks are chosen by them without input from the organizations listed. 

A celebration of more than 60 violins played by Jewish musicians during the Holocaust. Exhibition is in display at the Merage Jewish Community Center of Orange County through June 9, and concurrently at the Orange County Museum of Art from June 6-8.

Eleanor, a shy teenager, escapes the challenges of growing up by immersing herself in sci-fi comic books. Her life changes dramatically when she is transported into the comic book world, where she must learn to harness her inner strength to defeat her foes and lead her allies. Through June 7 at UC Irvine's Claire Trevor Theatre.

Marvin "Smitty" Smith has recorded 200 albums with various artists, as well as two solo albums. He has toured with Sting, Dave Holland, Sonny Rollins, Willie Nelson and Steve Coleman and is a former member of The New York Jazz Quartet. Smith was the drummer for the Jay Leno "Tonight Show" band. 7:30 p.m. June 5 at Muckenthaler Cultural Center.
