Alex Chan is a freelance reporter covering the arts, food and culture in the Orange County area. She began her career as a writer for Varsity Arts, a section of The Orange County Register dedicated to covering high school arts programs across the county. She later spent three years writing for subsidiaries of The Los Angeles Times, first as the education reporter for The Daily Pilot, then as the features reporter for Times OC. She graduated from UC Irvine with a literary journalism degree and from USC with a master’s in journalism.
